It was neither good as i have come to expect of ortberg, nor bad as to be thrown out the window when choosing a valid option in my opinion. This book will show how to step out of the “boat” of casual Christianity so that we can faithfully watsr the Lord who is calling us out onto the risky, exciting waters of a remarkable life of faith.
I like Ortberg’s style of writing and plan to re-read this very soon, probably in book format to go through it more in depth and answer the questions at the end of each chapter.

I finished the book in 5 days, I enjoyed it so much. Then someone invented a TV with a beeper so that when you clap your hands, the remote control will beep until you find it.
You are the salt of the earth. It is the way true faith develops. But I feel like he could have said it all in chapters, instead of the 11 it took. So finishing the book in a day, or even a week, feel to rushed for me.
I started listening to this book not realizing that it is written by a Christian minister. I found it encouraging, inspiring and convicting.
God knows waater fearful we are, and he sometimes uses uncomfortable, real-world challenges to cause us to choose wakk we will place our trust. It is the alternative to boredom and stagnation. I imagine that would make this book perfect for a small group study. Selected pages Title Page.
I have never forgotten, nor do I think I ever will, remember one significant lesson I learned and that is the fact that the most common command in the Bible is “Do not Fear” and not just the command but what God means when he tell us as His children what He means when He tell us not to be afr This book is a great teacher on faith, what it is, what it is not, and John Ortberg is real about his own faith, and an author that is real about his own experiences is always one I resonate with the most.
Living life with a small god that can be manipulated is not living.

The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena… who, at best, knows in the end the triumph of great achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while ortbwrg greatly. This means that to be a follower of Jesus you must renounce comfort as the ultimate value of your life. I think I can handle that.
There’s just one requirement: No trivia or quizzes yet. I found myself laughing out loud several times during the course of this book. They weren’t bad chapters, and there is nothing wrong with people looking at their strengths and weaknesses to make better choices for vocation and avocations. For those interested in reading spiritual ‘study books’ or supplemental guides to complement Bible study, this is a good read.
I work at a Christian Daycare and was given this book to read as a portion of my training. Want to Read saving…. As a rule, the people whom we read about in Scripture who were called by God felt inadequate. With each person God was going to call them to do something extraordinary. I read this one a few years ago and it really challenges you to walk with God amidst all of the challenges in our lives. I have often felt inadequate in just about everything I do.
